Order Sizing
Order sizing defines how much Aurono buys or sells per trade.
It does not control when Aurono trades.
It controls how large each individual trade is once all conditions are met.
What Order Sizing Is
Section titled “What Order Sizing Is”Order sizing consists of two values:
- Buy amount — how much currency is used per buy
- Sell amount — how much currency is sold per sell
These values apply per executed trade, not per timeframe or per day.
Buy Amount
Section titled “Buy Amount”The buy amount defines the maximum currency amount Aurono will use for a single buy order.
Example:
- Buy amount: €100
This means:
Each qualifying buy will use up to €100, subject to available capital and exchange constraints.
If insufficient unallocated capital is available, no buy occurs.
Sell Amount
Section titled “Sell Amount”The sell amount defines the maximum currency value Aurono will attempt to sell in a single sell order.
Example:
- Sell amount: €100
This means:
Each qualifying sell will reduce the position by up to €100, subject to available asset balance and safeguards.
Aurono may sell part of a position, not necessarily all of it.
Order Sizing Is Per Trade
Section titled “Order Sizing Is Per Trade”Order sizing does not mean:
- “€100 per hour”
- “€100 per day”
- “€100 per candle”
It means:
€100 each time a qualifying buy or sell occurs.
If conditions are met multiple times, multiple orders may be placed over time.
Interaction With Allocated Capital
Section titled “Interaction With Allocated Capital”Order sizing is limited by allocated capital.
Aurono will:
- Never exceed the strategy’s allocated capital
- Never borrow funds
- Never use margin
If allocated capital is fully used:
- Buying stops automatically
- Selling may still occur (subject to rules)
Interaction With Average Cost Base
Section titled “Interaction With Average Cost Base”Sell orders are also constrained by the average cost base rule:
- Even if sell amount is configured
- Even if sell trigger is met
- Aurono will not sell below average cost base
Order sizing does not override safeguards.
Exchange Constraints
Section titled “Exchange Constraints”Exchanges impose constraints such as:
- Minimum order size
- Price precision
- Quantity precision
If a configured order size is not valid for the exchange:
- The order will not be placed
- No partial or adjusted order is created
Aurono does not auto-correct invalid sizes.
Common Misunderstandings
Section titled “Common Misunderstandings”“Why didn’t it buy?”
Available capital was insufficient for the configured buy amount.
“Why did it only sell part of the position?”
Sell amount limits how much is sold per trade.
“Why didn’t it adjust the order size?”
Aurono does not modify configured values.
How to Think About Order Sizing
Section titled “How to Think About Order Sizing”Order sizing defines granularity:
- Smaller amounts → more granular accumulation and distribution
- Larger amounts → fewer, larger position changes
There is no “correct” size.
It must fit within the overall strategy design.
Key Takeaway
Section titled “Key Takeaway”Order sizing defines how much Aurono trades per execution, nothing more.
Aurono:
- Executes fixed-size orders
- Obeys capital limits
- Applies safeguards consistently
