Creating Your First Strategy
A strategy defines when Aurono buys and sells.
Aurono does not make decisions on its own. It executes your strategy exactly as configured.
This page explains how to create your first strategy using the Setup Wizard.
The Setup Wizard Flow
Section titled “The Setup Wizard Flow”After connecting your exchange, the wizard guides you through creating your first strategy in three steps: preview, confirm, and done.
Step 1: See Your Balances
Section titled “Step 1: See Your Balances”After verifying your exchange connection, Aurono shows your account balances. You’ll see your EUR balance and your top crypto holdings.
If you have less than the minimum capital needed, Aurono will suggest depositing EUR on your exchange first. You can refresh your balances after depositing, or continue without depositing to explore the preview.
Step 2: Preview with Real Data
Section titled “Step 2: Preview with Real Data”Before you commit anything, Aurono runs a full simulation using Bitcoin’s actual price history over the last year.
This uses the same simulation engine as the Strategy Lab — it’s not a simplified demo. You’ll see:
- A P&L number — how the strategy would have performed
- Trade count — how many buys and sells would have triggered
- A trigger chart — showing price movements against the computed buy and sell thresholds
- A benchmark comparison — strategy performance vs buy & hold vs monthly DCA
The simulation uses sensible defaults: daily timeframe, moderate sensitivity, and amounts proportional to your available capital.
If you want to adjust the parameters before creating, click “I want to adjust first” — this opens the Strategy Lab’s Simulate tab with all parameters pre-filled, so you can experiment freely.
Step 3: Confirm and Create
Section titled “Step 3: Confirm and Create”The wizard shows a clear summary of what you’re about to create:
- Name — e.g. “Bitcoin Daily”
- Asset — e.g. BTC-EUR
- Exchange — your connected exchange
- Timeframe — Daily
- Starting capital — based on your EUR balance
- Buy trigger — the drop percentage that triggers a buy
- Sell trigger — the rise percentage that triggers a sell
- Buy and sell amounts — EUR per trade
If you like what you see, click “Create this strategy” and it’s live. Aurono starts evaluating on the next scheduled check.
Want to tweak the parameters first? Click “I want to adjust first” to open the Strategy Lab with everything pre-filled. Prefer a different asset entirely? You can skip the wizard and create any strategy you like from the Strategies page — the wizard is just a starting point.
Step 4: Done
Section titled “Step 4: Done”A confirmation screen lets you know your strategy is running. From here, you can go to the Dashboard to monitor it.
What a Strategy Is
Section titled “What a Strategy Is”A strategy consists of:
- An exchange
- A trading pair
- A timeframe
- Buy and sell conditions (percentage thresholds)
- Order sizing (EUR per trade)
- Allocated capital
Each strategy operates independently.
Creating Additional Strategies
Section titled “Creating Additional Strategies”After the initial wizard, you can create more strategies from the Strategies page by clicking ”+ New strategy”. This opens the full strategy creation form where you choose:
- Exchange and trading pair
- Timeframe (1h, 4h, daily, weekly)
- Buy and sell trigger percentages
- Order amounts
- Capital allocation
You can also use the Strategy Lab to simulate different parameter combinations before committing.
Core Strategy Settings
Section titled “Core Strategy Settings”Timeframe
Section titled “Timeframe”The timeframe determines how often Aurono evaluates price changes.
Examples:
- 1h — more frequent checks
- 4h — slower, calmer behavior
- 1d — long-term execution
- 1w — weekly evaluation
For first use, 4h or 1d is recommended.
Buy Trigger (Drop %)
Section titled “Buy Trigger (Drop %)”Defines how much price must drop before a buy is triggered.
Example:
- Buy at -4%
This means:
Aurono buys only after a closed candle has dropped at least 4%.
Sell Trigger (Rise %)
Section titled “Sell Trigger (Rise %)”Defines how much price must rise before a sell is triggered.
Example:
- Sell at +6%
This means:
Aurono sells only after a closed candle has risen at least 6%.
Order Amounts
Section titled “Order Amounts”Set:
- Buy amount (in EUR)
- Sell amount (in EUR)
These amounts apply per trade, not per day.
Allocated Capital
Section titled “Allocated Capital”Limits how much capital the strategy may use.
Aurono will never exceed this amount.
Allocating more than is on the exchange
Section titled “Allocating more than is on the exchange”You can give a strategy more EUR than your exchange currently has free — handy if you plan to top up later. The form shows a yellow warning, but lets you continue.
The catch: Aurono can’t hold EUR aside on the exchange. When a buy triggers, the exchange checks its balance at that exact moment and rejects any order it can’t pay for. The strategy is fully active and watching the market, but it can only actually buy once you’ve topped up the exchange. The dashboard banner stays visible until you do.
Common First-Time Questions
Section titled “Common First-Time Questions”“Nothing is happening.” This usually means the market has not met your conditions yet.
“Can I change the strategy later?” Yes, but changes create a new version. The previous version’s parameters are preserved in history. This ensures a complete audit trail of how your strategy evolved.
“Can I pause the strategy?” Yes. Pausing stops evaluation. You can reactivate at any time. You can also archive a strategy to remove it from active views while keeping its full history.
“Can I stop the strategy?” Yes. Pause it in the dashboard or unplug the device.
Next Steps
Section titled “Next Steps”Once your first strategy is active, you may want to:
- Monitor it on the Dashboard — click the strategy card to see its Evaluate tab
- Use the Strategy Lab to explore other assets and simulate different parameters
- Add additional strategies for other assets or timeframes
- Review the Strategy Builder section to understand each setting in depth
Aurono rewards patience and consistency.
Aurono executes rules — not emotions. A simple strategy, followed consistently, is often the best place to start.
